A 1994 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Tamika Harper, known by her stage name, “Georgia Me,” is an accomplished spoken word artist and actress who has:

-Toured with Def Poetry Jam
– Starred in Russell Simmons’ Tony Award Winning Show, “Def Poetry Jam on Broadway”
-Performed at the 2003 Tony Awards
-Performed at the Showtime at the Apollo
-Done readings with Danny Glover, Phylicia Rashad and Jeffrey Wright
-Performed in the “Vagina Monologues” at the Edinburgh Playhouse in Scotland
-Acted in Tyler Perry’s “Madea Goes to Jail”

After being honored with the “Kuumba” award by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated in 2008, Harper began hosting the “Tamika Festival”—an annual event that showcases and honors excellence in Black culture.
