Question: How has Dr. Coaxum-Young made an impact on BTW?

“Dr. Coaxum-Young makes an impact on BTW because she is changing the lives of students. Before she came, you would often see students in the hallway during class but Dr. Coaxum-Young has changed that by making sure they stay in the classroom and giving students incentives for their attendance and good behavior.” -Jennifer Navarrete ’20

“Dr. Coaxum-Young young makes an impact on Booker T. Washington High School by appreciating not only the school but the students there. Because Washington is the first public school for Blacks southeast of the Mississippi River, she makes sure to highlight historical facts that black people have made in education and beyond on the announcements every morning. But it’s not only limited to black historical figures. She makes sure to highlight her upcoming historical figures—The Students. She always highlights the accomplishments of all of the BTW students and makes sure to let every student know that they are loved and are making the school proud.” -Miriam Olajide ’20, Salutatorian
