Question: How did Mrs. Williams make history at BTW?
“Louise Scarborough Williams was a vital part of BTW’s history. She served as the Head Dietitian and Manager for 20 years and took pride in making sure students had hot breakfast and lunch everyday, breaking from the required meals set by APS. I asked her once why she did that. Her answer: “For some of these students, that is the only meal they will get so I want to make sure they get a hot meal when they are here.” That stuck with me even when I attended BTW. Mom never forgot a student’s or a teacher’s face. Whenever she ran into someone while we were out I could see the influence she had on them just by the love and gratitude they showed her. Mom retired in 1988 and she received her wings in 2009. My BTW experience would not have been as meaningful if it were not for Mom.” -Dawn Scarborough Pitts ’89
