Rev. Susan H. Buckson (Submitted by These Halls Can Talk Founder, Leisa Brewer ’08)
Question: What impact has Rev. Buckson made on you?
“Rev. Buckson (formerly Mrs. Greene) was an absolutely phenomenal AP Lit teacher. To this day, I still remember and use techniques she taught me over a decade ago (that semicolon before “however” has gotten me very far lol). She was also very active outside of the classroom as we would often see her starring in school plays (the woman is TALENTED with a voice that demands your attention) and hosting school-wide events.
Not only was she a phenomenal and talented teacher, she was an excellent mentor who pushed her students outside of their comfort zones.
I remember signing up to audition for a dance role in a musical. When I got to the audition, little did I know that everyone was required to sing. When it was my turn to sing, I froze then cried. I was MORTIFIED. Rev. Buckson immediately stepped me to the side, consoled me and instead of telling me that I didn’t have to sing (which is what I hoped for), she urged me to try again the next day.
I ended up getting the lead role in that musical.
Rev. Buckson is the personification of prolific pride and I am forever grateful for and forever in awe of her.” -Leisa Brewer ’08
