🧑🏾🏫 Graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1934.
🧑🏾🏫 She graduated with an A.B. degree. Harris received a M.Ed. degree from Atlanta University.
🧑🏾🏫 She received her additional training in education from Tennessee State University, Tuskegee Institute, Wayne State University, Georgia State University, Grambling University and the University of Georgia.
🧑🏾🏫 George Busbee appointed Mrs. Narvie Harris to travel to West Africa for additional educational studies for Northwestern University.
🧑🏾🏫 In 1983, after 39 years of teaching, Mrs. Harris retired from the Dekalb County School Systems.
🧑🏾🏫 Harris was named an honorary Associate Superintendent by the DeKalb County Board of Education in the year 1985.
🧑🏾🏫In 1999, an elementary school in the Dekalb County School system was named in her honor, “Narvie J. Harris Traditional Theme School.”
🧑🏾🏫 Mrs. Harris was awarded a lot throughout her life for her accomplishments. Her awards include the Bronze Woman of the Year in Education by the Schools of DeKalb County, the Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award from Clark College and Atlanta University, and trees were planted in her honor at Carver High School in Columbus, Georgia and C.L. Harper High School in Atlanta, Georgia.
